DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Bianca has extensive expertise in divresity and inclusion, gained from years of working with diverse communities and from her academic studies in linguistic and cultural diversity, and access to higher education and professional careers related to underrepresented groups. 

Bianca believes that inclusion and belonging is the key to all initiatives and follows the ideas of Miller & Katz: 

'Inclusion is a sense of belonging: feeling respected, valued and seen for who we are as individuals. There is a level of supportive energy and commitment form leaders, colleagues and others so that we – individually and collectively – can do our best work’ (Miller and Katz, 1995, 2002).

A sense of belonging is fundamental for all learners and employees but especially for those from diverse backgrounds who may experiences issues such as isolation and a lack of support as a result of their diversity or diverse needs (for those with disabilities and difficulties).

Doctor Development & Associates is committed to ensuring that work in diversity and inclusion in education and business focuses on inclusive practice but from the viewpoint of a sense of belonging, beliefs and confidence, and resilience.

Bianca has developed a range of resources and delivers a range of presentations on this, and has been commissioned by organisations such as Imperial College London, University of Sussex, Clearview Research, Gravesham Headteachers' group, Pacey and others to work in this area.
